Recently I attended my good friend Alina’s baby shower and I was in awe with every detail of her minimalist yet elegant shower. Her mother threw her the shower, but all the details were brought to life by the mommy-to-be. Entering her grandmother’s backyard and seeing all the natural colors was so refreshing.
Let’s stroll into the details:
Alina chose her theme when she chose her baby shower invitation. Her invitation is yellow and off-white and features an adorable baby elephant. She went with these colors as she didn’t want a typical blue themed baby shower. {Invitation – Designed by mommy-to-be, printed at a local print shop and envelopes purchased from paper source}
She turned her grandmother’s backyard into an oasis with white large draped tent {Town & Country} and two long tables. The brown mahogany chiavari chairs were a great natural addition.
The delicious food was catered from Pinocchio’s Pizza in Pasadena, CA: Caprice, Shrimp Mushroom Linguine and
The Cheesecake Factory: Chicken Madeira and Luau Salad
Rose and Sauvignon Blanc were her spirits of chose to serve the guests.
Deserts were picked up from Whole Foods and the fruit was provided by Pinocchio’s.
The darling carrot cake from Lark Bakery was delicious and it too featured an adorable elephant.
The Servers from Sophie W Catering 818-406-7704 made the event set up, serving and clean up easy for her.
She chose seasonal flowers mostly yellow flowers with some white accents and put them in a white square porcelain vases from Moskatels in Downtown LA. Flowers were designed by Vicky 818-634-1086.
I loved how she presented the games! Wow! All the “handouts” and a cute little white pencil were nestled in our napkin as we found our seats and our names were fastened with the cutest clothes pin which was the perfect touch. {clips from and pencils from Michaels, game cards designed by mommy-to-be}
The favors were her favorite part of the shower! These charming tiny jars of Bee Local honey were a sweet parting gift for her guests {“Thank you from mama-to-be” tags made by mama-to-be herself}.
“Welcome Baby Boy” banner was made with love by her friend Annie.
White balloons with yellow confetti were from Party City.
Alina prepared for the shower by getting a spray tan at a local organic spray tan salon in Manhattan Beach.
She purchased her A.L.C. non-maternity dress from Nordstrom. Her off white, off-the-shoulder, crocheted floral lace dress looked amazing on her and as a bonus coordinated with her theme perfectly.
She had her makeup done by Makeup by KD and chose a daytime natural look. She did her own hair by letting it down.
She showed her appreciation to her mom for hosting her shower and got her a Michael Aram picture frame with a family picture in it.

Some tips from the mommy-to-be:
It is a lot more work to do an event at home, but you are on your own schedule and it’s more personal.
You also get familiar with vendors; you do a lot of research keep vendors close by for another event.
Try to plan for things you can’t control like weather, it was a hot day so I got fans for the guests to keep them cool.
Something I would do different is that I would delegate more and accept help when people offer to help.
